Getting Back on Track
(This post was written for Instagram and some things will make more sense in that context.)
(Yesterday, I meant to do my first "Friend's Friday" post but got delayed due to me trying to sort it out last minute. Sooo, I am looking forward to telling you about one of my talented friends on Monday in the first "Friends Friday" post.)
Recently I fell into a funk with my art and other parts of my life. What helped me get back on track: just doing a little bit, painting one small area, adding one piece of paper (for collage), etc.
This was inspired by a reel that came up in my feed by @markevitch. She talks about the same topic in several reels and the gist is that using one's hands to create something (painting, cooking, knitting, etc.), even for a short amount of time, can reset mood by lowering cortisol and increasing dopamine. To me, that means an immediate and also cumulative effect.
Also, in my stories today, you can see a reel by @helenwellsart which helped inspire me to get back into drawing in my notebooks/sketchbooks more regularly.
Shown here: Notebook drawing, 8/7-8/25, 7" x 5 1/2" approx.
