Weird Magical Bird

Another take on the first and second exercises in Carla Sonheim’s book. She calls them “blobimals”, by the way. When I look at the shape I’ve chosen from the photo (see slides 2 and 3), and it is transformed in my brain into a potential animal, I experience a moment of such glee! Hope you enjoy this magical bird in flight carrying a colorful mushroom - so much more creative than my “average” bird drawing.

This is a notebook sketch, created over a watercolor practice painting. Acrylic paint pens were used in order to cover up a lot, but not all of the previous painting. Technique (modified) from the book: “Drawing and Painting Imaginary Animals”
